    MLE on Performance-Based Funding of University Research: Final Report

    This report reviews wider international experience with Performance-Based Funding Systems (PRFS) as well as the specific experiences of the participating countries. It constitutes a ‘handbook’ for policy makers and PRFS designers, providing analyses of experience and discussing about policy role of PRFS, key parameters of PRFS design, strengths and weaknesses of different ‘models’ for PRFS design (discussions of peer review, indicators, societal impact of research…).  It includes also drawing lessons and making policy recommendations about how and when to design and use PRFS for policymakers and PRFS designers.

    Specific Support to Cyprus: Background report

    The Cypriot Government expressed its interest in a PSF Specific Support activity focused on the optimal use of public research infrastructures and laboratories by the business community. 

    This report aims to provide the main background information regarding the area of interest. The report starts with an overview of the economic performance of Cyprus and the structural characteristics of the economy. The economic overview is followed by an analysis of the performance of the research and innovation system. The analysis focuses on both the supply and demand sides and their interaction. The analysis of the governance system and the policy mix for the support of the collaboration between science and business is examined. Emphasis is given on the regulatory framework and the institutional policies and rules that influence the collaboration between public research organisation and companies.

    MLE on Research Integrity: Summary article

    Research integrity is essential both for excellent science and for society to have trust in researchers and research institutions. Experts and stakeholders from all over Europe took part in a Horizon 2020 Policy Support Facility (PSF) Mutual Learning Exercise (MLE) on Research Integrity (RI) in order to share experiences and identify good practices to promote and ensure integrity in scientific research.

    Peer Review of the Danish Research & Innovation System: Summary Article

    Denmark is a recognised innovation pioneer and yet there is a sense that it could still do better to become a world leader. How can an innovation leader up its game? Experts from the Horizon 2020 Policy Support Facility (PSF) answered the government’s request for a review to help answer this question. Their final report, Ten steps and a leap forward: taking Danish innovation to the next level, recommends a two-pronged approach: ten concrete actions to improve the current system and stronger strategic ambition.
