Developing a robust ecosystem that nurtures Romanian innovation and entrepreneurship is key to scaling up Romania’s growing technology start-up scene. This article summarises the work and key recommendations of the Specific Support to Romania carried out under the Horizon 2020 Policy Support Facility (PSF).

 

Romania 2018 Horizon 2020 Policy Support Facility

The Horizon 2020 Policy Support Facility (PSF) has been set up by the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) of the European Commission under the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation ‘Horizon 2020’. It supports Member States and countries associated to Horizon 2020 in reforming their national science, technology and innovation systems.

Romania 2018 Horizon 2020 Policy Support Facility

The R&I Observatory country report 2017 provides a brief analysis of the R&I system covering the economic context, main actors, funding trends & human resources, policies to address R&I challenges, and R&I in national and regional smart specialisation strategies. Data is from Eurostat, unless otherwise referenced and is correct as at January 2018. Data used from other international sources is also correct to that date. The report provides a state-of-play and analysis of the national level R&I system and its challenges, to support the European Semester.

Romania 2017 EU Report or Publication

The JRC managed Public Research Funding (PREF) study has collected information on and analysed national public research funding. It provides an overview of its evolution and current state in European and selected non-European countries, particularly as concerns funding themes, fields and the types of allocation (competitive project based versus institutional funding). The study was conducted by a consortium led by IRCRES CNR and involving researchers from USI, AIT and NIFU as well as a number of country experts.

This is the second of five reports that will be produced as the main deliverables of the MLE on Alignment and Interoperability of Research Programmes. The 'Policy Support Facility' (PSF) was set up by the Directorate-General for Research & Innovation (RTD) of the European Commission under the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation 'Horizon 2020', in order to support Member States and associated countries in designing, implementing and evaluating reforms of the national science, technology and innovation systems.

The Horizon 2020 Policy Support Facility (PSF) has been set up by the Directorate-General for Research & Innovation (DG RTD) of the European Commission under the EU Framework Programme for Research & Innovation ‘Horizon 2020’. It supports Member States and countries associated to Horizon 2020 in reforming their national science, technology and innovation systems.
The report summarises evidence on the situation of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Romania and provides a background for the PSF Specific Support to Romania’s panel of experts.

Romania 2017 Horizon 2020 Policy Support Facility

The annual RIO Country Report offers an analysis of the R&I system in Romania, including relevant policies and funding, with particular focus on topics critical for EU policies. The report identifies the main challenges of the Romanian research and innovation system and assesses the policy response.
