The primary activity of EWI is to assist the Flemish minister responsible for science and innovation with the preparation and implementation of policy. The activities of EWI are: contribution to the preparation of strategic policy documents and plans of action; preparations of decisions of the Flemish government; control of the finances of the science and innovation portfolio; representation of the Flemish government in federal and international fora; collection and analysis of policy-relevant information; evaluation of projects and organizations; communication about STI.
